:blob_raccoon_peek:

Tonight I cooked a pot of black-eyed peas and two loaves of pumpkin bread.

Then I finished Highlander S1 and it'll be a good long time before I see another episode of that show. I have better memories of later seasons, but I don't have any of those seasons on DVD.

Now I'm starting Helen of Troy (2003), a British-American two episode miniseries directed by John Kent Harrison. It has an all-star supporting cast and stars Sienna Guillory as Helen. We'll give it a shot.

If I could say ONE thing to #HenryCavill, it's that mabye we DON'T need a #WH40K #Series, we DON'T need a #movie or #miniseries.

We clearly have NOT learned from #GeorgeOrwell's #NineteenEightyFour, WHY should I believe we would learn from #40K, where #BigBrother is the only thing standing up to #SpaceSatan and an armada of #Xenomorphs?

Call me #hysterical, call me "a pussy," but the LAST THING we need in the west right now is #fiction GLORIFYING a fascist theocracy.

I'm heavily leaning towards a big undertaking for my film review blog: a massive post where I review, contrast, and compare all three version of Salem's Lot in one massive post.

After my post about my Bluray of the first one earlier today, I ended up loading it into my player to maybe watch it tomorrow morning and that got me thinking about the fact that I've never seen the 2004 version and that the new version comes out on the 3rd of October.

I've been avoiding checking out FRANKLIN, the AppleTV+ series starring Michael Douglas playing Benjamin Franklin, but finally gave it a whirl and hey, it isn't that bad. MD's voice, mannerisms, body, look, everything, is utterly different than what I believe Benjamin Franklin actually sounded, looked, or behaved like, but if you can make it over that, er, Everest hurdle of disbelief, the show's kind of interesting so far.

Coincidentally, I've been watching the very good, extremely disturbing, #UnderTheBannerOfHeaven "based on a book of a true story" #tv #miniseries on #Hulu.

It's a show full of a #religion's creation stories and self-proclaimed #prophets and #saints, not at all fundamentally dissimilar to the #Catholicism under which I was raised (and never believed, either).

#Watching THE WOMAN IN THE WALL

In a SHOCKING revelation, the Catholic Church is complicit in something abhorrent involving children. You may now have a moment to suspend your disbelief.
Ruth Wilson unhinged.
Irish accents needing subtitles.
Fictional thriller weaving in real life tragedy.
The best show of 2023 involving laundry.

The Fall of the House of Usher is an absolute joy to watch in general, but episode 5 in particular is, without a doubt, some of the best written, best paced, best sound designed, and most well acted... *anything* I've seen in ages. T'Nia Miller is a *phenomenal* actor, and deserves to win a goddamn award for her performance.

The series is fantastic and I recommend you watch it asap. Holy hell, you won't regret it. Just be prepared to feel things.
