Calling the diorama finished. I just need to leave it alone now. Don't mess with it, think of new things to add to it, add more drybrushing to the waves. And definitely. No. Seagulls.

This is going into the island Open Exhibition. I never thought of myself as an artist before, and it'll be sat alongside photographers, knitters, painters, and the like. Which is weird. But I feel pretty pleased. I learnt some stuff. I made some mistakes. I had fun.

This leads down to a sandy beach with a figure on it carrying a sack away from a small drakkar (Norse longboat) that has been landed. The boat is full of sacks and ropes, and has a sail on a mast that has been handmade, furled up, and is lashed to the yard. The water is resin but has gentle white waves on its surface. The foot of the cliffs are green with seaweed and several larger boulders, topped with green-yellow lichen. The diorama scale is 28mm.

In her right hand she holds an outrageously out-of-scale spear with knotwork on the tip. In her left hand she holds a round shield, painted with an anthropomorphic animal. Her eyes are heavily shadowed and her plaited blonde hair is loosely reminiscent of Lagertha, as played by Kathryn Winnick in the Vikings TV series. Or is meant to be.
