Today I am 61. Which is an all-out miracle considering I so nearly died when I was 52.

And I did this, which is an adaptation of a filet design. I also finished one baby jumper and one baby hat, started a pair of socks, made banana bread, and went to a Lent study group meeting on Zoom because our church isn't doing them... so I'm virtually visiting one on the other side of the country. 😃 And Sibyl was a bit crazy and my shoulder still hurts, but hey. I'm still here and still enjoying life!

This is a Bosun's Plait. It's an alternative method of finishing bag handles, and, as you see, it looks very nifty in two colours. (It's also a lot easier to do in two colours, because you can keep track; you have to loop on alternate sides. If you keep looping on the same side you get an interesting spiral pattern known as the Rolling Bosun, which is nice to look at but not comfortable for a bag handle.)

This sample is so stiff that I can pick up one end and hold it horizontally in the air without the far end drooping!

The massive Encyclopedia of Needlework by Thérèse de Dillmont, originally printed in 1884, is available for free on Project Gutenberg. Anyone interested in any kind of #textiles work/ #fiberarts will have fun poking around in this book. Nothing specific about #weaving, but lots of finishing techniques that can be incorporated.
