I just received an email, a friendly reminder that i had 8months to migrate my account to a new instance, and now i have only 1month left. Because why do something when you could it it later, i guess...

Bon je vais revenir sur mon thread où j'avais demandé des suggestions d'instance et m'y atteler dans la semaine.

Je ne sais pas comment ça se passe pour les comptes qui demandent validation avant de les suivre, dans le cas d'une migration, ça va leur demander cet effort ? (déso d'avance, je crois que je suis pas mal de monde dans ce cas)

I also want to give a huge shoutout to @CobaltVelvet for the years of running #octodon.

Maintaining a server is thankless work and the amount of fixes they did to deal with.... choices... made by the core team are important and shouldn't be overlooked.

Any #octodon ppl who need a place to move to, we are a cooperatively governed instance that is comfortably small, and while many of our members are academics in and near neuroscience, the purpose of the instance (imo, though as an equal cooperator it is not up to me alone to decide) is to use academic resources to make healthy communication systems, bringing researchers out of the ivory tower and into the commons, so non academics are very welcome. We do the best we can with thoughtful, fast, and participatory moderation to protect our members and be good neighbors in the fedi, and actively welcome members to hack alongside us on anything that makes the fedi safer, more legible, or in general a better place to be. We are a more public-oriented instance so we eg. dont have authorized fetch on at the moment, but we are opposed to mass surveillance and eg. dont federate with threads and block LLM crawlers. May not be a good fit for everyone, but if you are curious feel free to reach out :)

So here's my #introduction! I live in #Roma, #Italy and I work in the telecommunications industry - studied #electronics and #computerscience so no big surprise! I love programming in #perl and I enjoy sharing via #cpan and #github. I used #emacs for some time but I'm all #vim now... 😅.
