BluedepthWhat gives me the heartburn around <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Office365" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Office365</a> is that in so many ways, New Outlook is just OWA in an application wrapper. That's not exactly correct, but it's frikken correct enough. You're so close! Please! Just go to OWA! But no, you hear those three letters and you break out in willful contrary aggression. Fine, don't then, but if I could cruicify the Outlook Application, old or new, I would in a !@#$ heartbeat, god damn thing is a pox on humanity, we should whack it with a shovel.

I want to say "Have you used OWA?" but I know better. Nobody wants to use OWA, they just want an application, or at least, that's what they keep on banging on about. I don't even utter the words.

NAB 🇬🇧🇪🇺🔶:marmite:Some time ago I had a look at <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/Office365" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Office365</a> - to see if it was something we may want to resell (we don't) and to give my wife something more reliable than a self-hosted system (it isn't) so she'd be a happy bunny (she isn't). I'm trying to migrate the email out. Can I get it to let me log in by IMAP? No. The user has IMAP permissions, there's an app password set and it should just work. It doesn't. Next step is to type mystical PowerShell incantations.

I feel the same way as he does about Microsoft and most big proprietary software companies. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtgJi5DVxmo" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtgJi5DVxmo</a>Even though things with Windows weren't as bad when I switched fully to Linux back around 2007 when it was still Win XP, Windows has just kept getting worse with all the spying, subscriptions, ads, AI, etc. while Linux has kept getting better and easier, with none of that invasive stuff.The only thing I'd add to what he says, regarding the part where he mentions how you have to pay $10 a *month* to use MS Office (plus subs to other $ software): If you use FOSS, imagine how much money you've saved over the years!
