Serious q. for all queer folk, esp fellow trans girlies: what risks do I run posting face-blurred selfies/photos of myself?

My only thought is association at protests etc, but I don't go to any, so...

I just wanna share cute outfits and photos without feeling like I need an alt. Not authentic...

Would love any feedback RE: AI and related Deepfake etc stuff, or cybersec/opsec folks info perhaps?

My many thanks! :neofox:

🚨 Tor Browser opsec discovery: The security level slider cannot be relied upon without a full browser restart: privacyguides.org/articles/202

If you frequently switch between security levels in Tor Browser (or Mullvad Browser!), make sure you are fully restarting the browser every time, otherwise you could still unexpectedly have dangerous JS features enabled!

This requirement is not publicly documented anywhere. Hopefully @torproject will add a prompt to restart after modifying this setting in a future Tor Browser release.

“Waltz also attended #Trump's televised #CabinetMeeting on Wednesday. In a #Reuters photograph from the meeting, Waltz appeared to be using the #Signal app on his phone. The photograph appears to show a list of chats he has had on the messaging app with other cabinet members, including Vice President JDVance & *#Intelligence* Chief #TulsiGabbard.”

The fact that #AlexWong was fired alongside of #MikeWaltz points to this decision being primarily based on the advice of #ConspiracyTheorist #LauraLoomer.

Loomer presented #Trump with a list of people she deemed unloyal to him during an Oval Office visit about a month ago. Alex Wong was at the top of her list.
This is pretty concerning. It wasn’t the Signal group chat that violated #NationalSecurity & #military #OpSec, it was the word of a 9/11 denier. This presidency is insane.

Pretty good breakdown of OpenAI o3's (quite good) performance at guessing locations based on photos, by way of the "GeoGuessr" game (metadata stripped). It scored better than a very highly ranked human.

A tendency of some AI critiques is to treat _all_ such evidence as "smoke and mirrors". That is unhelpful; it occludes awareness of capabilities that are actually improving (and can present real #opsec and surveillance risks in this case).

Anyone use a Miady portable charger? Looks sus.

I just tried on an old Android, and I got a popup saying my files are not backed up and I should create an account.

This behaviour does not happen if I charge over the micro usb from Linux.

Because the phone is old, it did not activate Bluetooth as best as I can see via settings.

The mystery is that this old phone does not have a SIM card, and is only being used over WiFi so unless the battery has a cell radio, I do not see how this setup could leak.

Has anyone done a teardown of these battery chargers? It would not surprise me that there is a cell radio inside.

Something is happening even though the phone is in Airplane mode. I can tell from the response times.

It may be that the battery is trying continuously to break in.

Another behaviour change. With the phone 'off' (cough), when charging, it shows the battery level. It never does this when charging from Linux PC.

They’re amassing Full Spectrum Dominance and planning to deploy it against their own citizenry.

I only hope there’s some sort of opposition in the works behind the scenes, bc if there’s not, things are going to get very bad—incomprehensibly bad—for millions of people (and not just immigrants). Literally enemies of the state (as defined by the bully in the Oval).
