Red states moving on #cleanenergy

#Florida added more #solar in 2024 than any other state - except Texas.

FL also added more rooftop residential solar than any other state but CA.
True for last 5 years.

Industry expects FL will stay #2 in solar for both in 2025 installations.

FL law forbids "climate change" in state policies - but #extremeweather is pounding state, so people want resilient power anyway.

Canary Media · Florida is now a solar superpower. Here’s how it happened. The Sunshine State built more large-scale solar than California last year and was again No. 2 for residential, despite state leadership opposed to climate…

My daughter is a PhD student in psychology and she was explaining the controversy around social emotional learning (SEL).

Apparently it is unliked by conservatives because it encourages everyone to have their own voice and have their truths be witnessed and seen by their classmates and the teachers, and vice versa.

Which, these stupid people say, encourages kids to believe they are trans. So no good. We can't have people sharing emotions.

As a coincidence I got to a part of Allison Pugh's book that talks about SEL as a way to cope with the demands of data collection and procedures that surround teachers. The effort to squash SEL is fought by more SEL.

It made me think that the tech industry is sorely lacking in SEL. Maybe I'll try to slip an exercise in during our next Reliability Matters session.

This is the point: "“Instead of teaching people to dodge stones that we have thrown at them, it would be better not to throw stones from the very beginning,” says Roman Zviagintsev, an educational-equality researcher at the University of Vienna."

Some folks standing out in front of the post office today 'demonstrating' in support of federal workers (holding up thank-you signs to the postal workers and talking to passersby). We gave 'em a thumbs up. When I let them know I'd called my senators to urge them to stop the carnage, they gave me a thumbs up. It was a very thumbs-uppy exchange.

Oh, and talked to a neighbor about sharing information on increasing solar capacity in the neighborhood.

With the increasing economic damage caused by the US Administration, the risk of a War of Distraction increases dramatically. There have already been dozens of overt threats to #Canada 's #Sovereignty, and actual fiscal assaults to its economy.

Now that the American financial markets are diving, a switch to diversionary foreign policy is all but inevitable.

It's time to get ready by practicing some of the #Resilience tactics mentioned here.
