Holy 90s adventure revival, Batman. Neofeud is a non stop feast of deja vues of interesting but
arguably worse games from the 90s like Noctropolis, Harvester or | Have No Mouth and | Have
To Scream, done mainly by a (arguably very very intelligent) guy that is from Hawaii and works
as a robotics teacher in a probably difficult place - meaning, what you see in the game are
things that probably he has been living there. The best part though is how he mixes all the 90s
“cd rom multimedia” cyberpunk aesthetic and how he runs with it all along. And the game is
very well written, very fair (for the moment at least) and has atmosphere in spades.

Maybe if the references are nothing to you, you will not be able to enjoy it. But that's part of it.
Neofeud is a game about empathy, about humanity, about fighting the oppressor, which is
what Cyberpunk was about until it was washed out to be the bland neon aesthetic of today. |
love it. | love the author, and | hope to see many things from him.

those fancy floating castles in the sky up there? What would happen, § OV | yi
huh? World War Three, my friend. Chaos, disorder. Drugs - be it Pi
mythium or TV, e-tube, internet, games - these provide a pacifying ;
opiate, they keep the less-evolved, the defectives, those not entitled Z
to a place in the heavens, an... exhaust outlet.

Neofeud is a brilliant ride.
Video games can not only be a vessel to escape reality, but can also force players to confront
and engage with reality, and this is what Neofeud does.
There is some text-heavy criticism of this game, but | personally really enjoyed this approach. I
found the gameplay to be a satisfying combination of demonstration and commentary , and
while the commentary was heavier, it was so immersive and thought out that | am glad it was
not cut down. | laughed at times and felt immensely infuriated at times, given the parallels of
injustice in our world highlighted by the game creator. This is the kind of storytelling and world-
building richness | crave in games. Neofeud explored the depths that makes up our capitalist
reality and | found the game to be a multidimensional representation of Marx's Das Kapital. It
iis received as a labor of love, one that speaks to the cultural references of our generation.
Logistic-gameplay-wise, | appreciate the length of the game given how heavy some of the
world-building and material was. At times the inventory/environment interface was challenging
to navigate as you had to hover your mouse over the right spot in order to trigger a clickable
action, but it wasn't insurmountable. I enjoyed the puzzles; however, there were a few that
were too easy in that the player could click down a list to eliminate all wrong answers until they
landed on the correct one. Overall, | found the puzzles to make sense in the story progressio

This was a super welcome surprise today: there's a #HumbleBundle with almost the entire #EarthDefenseForce franchise except for the newest game Earth Defense Force 6. This is probably my favorite game franchise in recent years.

$25 gets you #Steam keys EDF 4.1 and just about all of its DLC, EDF 5, EDF Iron Rain, EDF World Brothers and World Brothers 2. That's like 90% off or something, I don't do math. Also it's like, charity of something?

If you've never played these games before, they are basically old #Kaiju movies where you play as infantry with increasingly unrealistic weaponry, killing swarms of bus-sized insects and aliens and robots etc. They lean into their b-movie atmosphere, and take themselves hilariously seriously.

Usually I opt for the Japanese audio tracks in games like these but the English dub is so hilarious that you have to keep it on.
