Gum trees in fog.

The soft light on those damp leaves.

A young gum tree stands right of centre, moisture laden from the fog, it's leaves a golden green in the soft ambient light. A yelllow and gray trunk of a much larger tree stands behind it, others further behind lost in the mist, shapes in the grey.

Yesterday I've met a fellow #vintagelens lover who took the game to another level. He designs his own lenses with old concepts. Like this #Petzval type with a nice soft focus, heavy swirl like a projection lens but with aperture. Just wow.

Forest bits.

Misty weather Nov 2024.

A leafy branch reaches into the frame from lower right, older leaves green, the flush of new growth at the top in contrasting pastel red tones.. The leaves are damp, dotted with raindrops. Blurry background in green and dark brown forest tones.

A bottlebrush tree sprouts it's flowers. One is partially open in the near foreground, an array of tendrils reaching upwards, white stemmed with yellow pollen ends. The rest of the flower is contained in many small spherical structures yet to open. Blurry forest tones in the mist behind.

A young gum tree sprouts waxy white-green new leaves at it's tip, each leaf in the young plant wrapping around the stem to appear as one structure. Forest floor blurry background in dark brown tones.

Life Goes On.

Wet bark lays on the ground filling most of the frame, inner tree side facing up, it's vivid red brown an indication it recently fell. A ground level fern-like plant was partially covered and has sprouted 2 tiny fronds through cracks in the bark. Old bark and dry leaf debris scattered on the forest floor.

Swordgrass in the Mist.

Several swordgrass plants with tall, dark seed stems in the mist. Tall gum tree trunks behind, some scarred from past wildfires. Vibrant green undergrowth in the foreground. It has the appearance of being silent, serene (it was).

Echidna in the yard.

Such a cutie

An echidna walks towards the camera, filling the height of the frame. It's on a dry lawn, a timber paling fence to it's left. Their long nose shows signs of it's foraging for ants, with sand and dirt particles clinging to it's wet nose. It is a sunny day, it's fur shining a golden brown.

Californian Poppies.

Up close and personal.

The orange is so powerful, the gamut checker in DarkTable obscures the whole flower.

A powerfully orange poppy flower in side view, petals still unfurling, it's pink base in view. Soft focus blurry background in green and orange.

Macro close up of a flower centre at 45 degrees to the face, all of it's parts on display. An almost alien looking green protrusion with white filaments has grown out through the centre of the orange filaments. Pollen and small insects can be seen around the flower base.

Living on the Edge.

Sheoaks on the bluff at Park Beach.

Fore and Aft.

A small dry twig has fungi-type spores growing on the underside in close up. The twig blurs out of focus into the background, joining the main branch at left, where a spider's web appears. Blurry forest tones in green and brown in the background.

Same scene, now with focus on the spider web. It has been thickened with a zig zag pattern along it's support lines, and rather than the typical circular shape, it's a 3D structure between multiple points with many planes of surface. The fungi spores are blurred out of focus in the foreground. Blurry forest tones in green and brown in the background.

This agapanthur bud was like none of the others.

Photo walk in Rhinelander WI today at the Holmboe Conifer Forest State Natural Area.

Here are my 4 favorite shots with my Canon FL 55mm F 1.2. These are also straight out of camera due to everything I tried making them look, maybe not worse, but less cool.

The snake held still for me to line up this shot like I had paid him to model for me. I got super lucky with that one.
