The responsible artist is Donovan Spaanstra, who also has three of his works hanging as a part of the permanent collection of the “Amsterdam Museum”.

Artist Steffen Maas made a mosaic portrait of the legendary Nelson Mandela at the corner of Krugerplein and Pretoriusstraat (also called “De Krugerkop”).

The mosaic was constructed from hundreds of wooden shields with South African patterns in 2014. It emerged from the collaboration between residents from the Transvaal buurt, among others. The mosaic was intended to confirm or emphasize the neighborhood's connection with South Africa.

On the side wall of Sarphatistraat number 163 you will find a huge mural in full colour. The work covers the entire wall and shows a boy surrounded by butterflies and tropical leaves, looking into the distance in the direction of the Roeterseiland campus. The artist is Tim Rodermans and the boy represents his own son.

This tiger is to be found in the Gravenstraat, a back alley near the “Nieuwe Kerk“. The responsible artist DHM, is a painter, and graphic designer from the city. His work is recognized for its tribal tattoo-inspired style, often depicting animals.

As a graphic designer, DHM has worked with big league brands under his own name (Hugo Mulder).

Though running his own studio, you can still see his passion for street art throughout the city.
