Horn of Balance - an indie 2D zelda-like
I'm developing 'Horn of Balance', a 2D zelda-like featuring 12 non-linear dungeons, 2 interconnected worlds and a TON of secrets.
Right now, the project is live on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hornofbalance/horn-of-balance) and we've almost hit the funding goal with just 24 hours left!
There's also a free demo on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738140/Horn_of_Balance/) and Itch.
I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!
GOG a year after release?
I cannot promise a GOG release just yet, but I will be applying for the required publishing deal. If that goes through then yes. It would be a simultaneous release. The game is already on Itch (= DRM free version) and that too will be available on day 1 if I can help it.
(I hate DRM just as much as the next guy )
Dang, should have been a general DRM free question.
Sounds awesome!
This looks really interesting, will definitely be an instant buy from me, drm-free release is the extra cherry on top too.
Always love coming across cool stuff like this.
On the kickstarter, on the tiers that say you get a copy of the game, does that come via steam or do we get to choose the store that it comes from? Never used kickstarter before
@Nia_The_Cat Yes, you get to choose between the storefronts available. So that'll be Steam, Itch.io and hopefully a few more like GOG. GOG requires a deal with the site. I'll be applying but can't 100% guarantee it as an option just yet.
If you have any questions about Kickstarter just let me know. I'm hoping to raise enough funds in the next 20 hours, so I can finish this game. It's an all or nothing concept, so if we don't meet the goal then nobody actually has to pay anything.
Thanks!
If you want to get some more reach I’d recommend also posting this on Lemmy.world’s gaming community (tagging @gaming@lemmy.world, not sure if editing this to include it will actually post it there or not or if it needs to be a fresh post), there’s a very large amount of users there and they can’t see posts on this beehaw gaming community since we’re defederated from them due to moderation load
@Nia_The_Cat Oh, thanks. I was already on lemmy as well, but not on that group yet.
Actually as soon as I sent that I’ve just realized they have a rule against self promotion there on that group, ah well
@Nia_The_Cat Oops. Too late now
Iirc you can technically release as DRM free on Steam. There are some out there you can literally drag and drop to a different PC and it’ll work just fine. Just in case you wanted to go that route since you hate DRM.
@KairuByte I´ll have to look into that. Thanks.
Looks neat! I hope this does really well, and you can make a DLC called “Kazoo of Soup,” because that would never happen via Nintendo.
@Telorand You learn something new everyday. Hadn't heard about that one yet
Really like the art, any plans for ports to mobile? I think it could do really well there. I’ll kick some cash to the Kickstarter for sure, any plans to continue if you don’t reach the goal?
@Daxtron2 Not yet. But who knows what's possible if the game does well enough.
Kicked ya some cash :) close to the goal! Hope it gets there!
@Daxtron2 We made it! Thank you for your support!
Awesome!! Excited to see it come to life!
Only $541 needed with 14 hours left on the kickstarter, it was at like ~$1000 earlier today when I checked the post. Really hope this kicks off because this looks so close to A Link to the Past which was my favorite
Edit: Only $14 more now with 10 hours left, looks like I’ll get to play it
@Nia_The_Cat And we made it. Thank you again for your support Nia!
Congratulations!
@Telorand Thank you
Cool! I’m interested! I don’t play early access games as a rule though. You should make a post here on full release!
Steam Deck support?
@Yearly1845 haven't tested it myself, but some people have already played it on the device apparently
It has a Skull called Murrey?! Sign me up!
@Faydaikin You'll have to be quick. Just 4 hours left till the end of the Kickstarter
