If you think about it it's darkly funny that the pandemic has divided people into two groups

1. People who get sick all the time
2. People who never get sick anymore

Note: darkly funny means it's not actually funny

@eniko It is amazing how much less sick I have been these past 4 years. Well, except that one time that started six months ago and is still going on. Getting better!

I wish I'd been masking on planes for the last 30 years. Think of the time and misery saved for a trivial bit of embarrassment.

@TomF @eniko so much this. I think the best thing to come out of those pandemic personally is the discovery of the power of masking in enclosed spaces. It would have been so much better to discover this ages ago.

@oblomov @eniko The Covid lockdowns completely eradicated an entire disease. They worked! Sadly it wasn't Covid we fixed, but one of the three endemic strains of flu was banished from the planet.

@TomF @eniko I love the XKCD comic on this. It's a pity that people have to be forced into something so beneficial though.

@TomF @eniko another interesting stat during the lockdowns was the massive decrease in sales of certain classes of medicine, such as those for intestinal infections, because of all the disinfection

@TomF @eniko I remember the last time I was properly sick, it was January 2020, and was totally awful; I suspect it was OG COVID in the window when people thought it was contained but it wasn’t. I haven’t been ill since, but I have felt a lot more tired. But that could just be the age 🫤

@TomF pre-pandemic, I got sick just about every year in a big way, like “take 2+ weeks off work” big. (I was also the person *trying* to get back to work and making my colleagues sick in the process — because I didn’t want to keep losing vacation time. Present Blair regrets this.)

Now with isolation (wfh, selective hangouts) + masking, I’ve been sick… maybe twice? And not as severe or for as long. It’s wonderful.
