@anna@mastodon.gamedev.placeI was just at a DF party tonight and saw a bunch of my pals there old and new, and.. what an amazing, talented group of rare people. It brought back all these memories of how much we all genuinely loved being around each other.
When it's at its best, there are moments infused with a crazy, happy energy that's hard to put into words. You feel safe and inspired to try and make them laugh, knowing they will welcome the dumb joke and will riff on it and make it so much funnier than you ever thought it could be, and you can't wait to do that back and forth volley with them again.
Or you could say something heartfelt, and they will make room for that too, and aren't afraid of sharing something vulnerable in their stead. And that was my life for the longest time, spent with people like that, making really great games with them.
@anna I hope this isn’t parasocial and weird, but I was genuinely emotional watching the part of the documentary when you decided to leave. Seeing it come up again in this new episode got me all teary again!

I just wanted to thank you for taking part in these documentaries! Those episodes brought me so much joy over the years. Thank you (all) for being so open, and offering a look over your shoulder into a creative world I otherwise would not see.
@anna It was a joy working with you at the early Double Fine, and the culture was uniquely wonderful, in a way that had a profound impact on my approach to team building and mentorship in the years that followed. Hope you’re doing great, and send my best to Tim and the crew.
