the logi ergo k860 looks like a neat keyboard (slowly researching eventual replacements for my MS Sculpt), but I wish they had a TLK version, I can't deal with full-key anymore, too uncomfortable.

@djlink I wouldn't even buy a notebook without a numpad 😅... But I do allot of 3D stuff and navigation in software for that often presumes a numpad exist.

@feyter makes sense, for me it’s just useless so it gets in the way.

@djlink this keyboard rocks. I got one as a birthday present last year and I'm still very happy with it. 🙂

@djlink If you like the split layout you should probably look into something truly split like the Keychron Q11, Kinesis Edge or similar, they have more options

@sinbad the edge does look nice, although we're probably paying premium for that RGB xD

@djlink TBF it's hard to find a good keyboard that doesn't have RGB these days 😭

@sinbad @djlink
The Kinesis Freestyle Pro is like the Edge but without the RGB! It seems the Freestyle 2 that I've used for years is also still available. It lacks the Pro's macro/remapping functionality but is similar unlit.

I was worried the RGB model would replace everything, but hopefully they keep selling them all!

@idbrii @sinbad @djlink can also heartily recommend the ergodox; I’ve been using the ergodox-ez for years, and it has a no-led option. ergodox-ez.com

I recently discovered the key switches are easily swappable, which I’ve found handy for trying different configurations.

@bbbscarter @idbrii @sinbad I've seen these recommended a couple times, but I need my function keys row xD

@djlink @idbrii @sinbad fair. For my personal use I rarely use function keys, and when I do I hold a combo key with thumb/pinky and press the number keys. But indeed, that might not be enough if you use function keys a lot.

The lovely thing is how configurable it is. You can set it so that you have a toggle key that makes the number keys always function keys, until you toggle it off again; or so that holding down a number key triggers a function key; etc.

@bbbscarter @djlink @idbrii I like the idea of these sorts of things but my brain is already so chock full of key combos if I have to remember any more I’ll start forgetting how to do multi-caret editing or something 😉

@sinbad @djlink @idbrii indeed, you have to make space for the new things by aggressively evicting old knowledge. My new keybindings came at the expense of the Battle of Hastings, and I've got some new ones that I'll probably have to sacrifice the ‘For Mash Get Smash' aliens advert jingle for.

@djlink How is it failing? Mine started to miss presses on a few letters but that is probably something in the membranes. I saw a guy that basically made his Sculpt wired and customizable.. I can try to find a link if you're up for it

@celsosantos yeah mine is starting to fail, it's 9y old at this point, some keys aren't what they used to, but it's starting to impact general workflow

@jonikorpi ohh nice, will wait for them to stock the EU store, thanks for the tip

@djlink Well fuck.

> We regret to inform you that your Matias order is again delayed.
The reason is that there are still software problems for these new models , so the supplier needs more time to deliver them to us. The expected delivery time will most likely be in May 2025.

@djlink after weeks of research on split keyboards I ended up ordering the Keychron Q11 (not arrived yet). It's a bit more expensive, but it should last long given the build quality and repairability. And except for the double spacebar, it's a normal 75% layout which should require minimum effort to adapt.

@rogeriopvl that one looks nice, let me know what you think of it once you get it.
