What would you name a power-up that did nothing but cost a lot of gold to poke fun at the player for buying it.

@grumpygamer the Whale Mail. Just a letter that sits in your inventory with a golden whale picture on it.

@grumpygamer Dunno about specificity of name, but in its description, I think I'd imply it was a limited edition collectable that came in 5 different flavours, and have some nonsense stat with a "1/5" modifier (would be important to have whoever's selling it to openly say it's a moneygrab, and for there never to be more than one in the game)

@grumpygamer a lordship in the real world, a flawedship otherwise

@grumpygamer I'd call it "Hestu's Amulet" in reference of that Zelda game that rewarded you with a literal golden piece of sh€& called "Hestu's Gift" after the player collected 900 seeds, which was completely useless, making it the icing of the cake of tediousness and unrewardfulness, if that's even a word 😂, as if mocking the player to have spent that much time hoping for a reward.

@grumpygamer is “Twitter” too on the nose? “Bird nest”?

@grumpygamer

Beenz
Minibar water bottle
NFT of a rabid chipmunk
Wallet-drainer 3000
Sterling silver telephone dialer

@grumpygamer

"Soon Parted"
as in, "A fool and his money are"

@grumpygamer The Gold-Plated <Whatever> if it a a useless
Item like a weapon or whatever.

“Chocolate Teapot” has a good ring to it as well. Uncommon British slang I think.

@grumpygamer
Thor's Stein - referring to Thorstein Veblen who Veblen Goods (items that are sought after because of, rather than despite, their price) were named after: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veblen

@grumpygamer So long, and thanks for all the gold

@grumpygamer Congratulations I Won the Game Economy

@grumpygamer A German word would be "Fehlkauf", a purchase that turns out bad. Other ideas:
"Mocking Void"
"Luxurious Lack-Thereof"
"Lackluster Royale"
"The Millionaire Experience"
"Idiot Box (best value)"

@grumpygamer Horse Armor in Return to Monkey Island.

@grumpygamer is "Blue tick" too triggering? 😬

@grumpygamer The Got Mine might explode when you pass by poor and hungry npcs, turning you into food
