Thimbleweed Park released 8 years ago today. A damn fine game, if I don't say so myself.

If you haven't played it, add it to your bucket list today. Also available on Switch, Xbox, PS, iOS and Android.

@grumpygamer Such a great game, I love every pixel of it. Think of creating a coffee mug with theese two agents, or the cop that looks like the coroner :)

@SunDancer @grumpygamer

Indeed! I got the Mac version from GOG (in addition to the iOS version I already had). 👍😎

@grumpygamer A damn fine game indeed! I sometimes listen to the soundtrack for some good memories.

@grumpygamer Ouch. Just noticed that I only played the "Delores" mini game! Which was great! So, I still have the big adventure in front of me! 😄

@grumpygamer Ok, great! 🥳 I took this opportunity and started into #ThimbleweedPark. 🤩 It's so good! It really doesn't let you go... and I should have gone to bed! Night rushed by, sun came up and I had to write several emails and perform a few phone calls. Totally deprived of sleep, with the mood of a mystery case in mind and trying hard to don't let it show. 🥴 Let's get done with this, so I can get back to my original fuckin' plan! 🤡 #Adventure #game #gaming #LinuxGaming #RetroGaming #PixelArt

@grumpygamer
No sorry. I believe 8 days ago, maybe 8 months, but not 8 years. Haha. Hahaha. Hahahaha.

@grumpygamer not only did I play the game, I also liked it!

@grumpygamer WHAT? 8 years ago? I bought it for iOS and Mac and never finished. May kids were born and I forgot to play

Thank you for this masterpiece!

@grumpygamer oh yes. I even bought it on @gog a while ago … but haven’t played it yet. It’s about time!

@grumpygamer I don’t think I ever stopped smiling while I was playing this game. It was an incredible love letter to weird nineties kids who grew up playing Day of the Tentacle and Sam and Max Hit the Road.

@grumpygamer great game. still triggers me hard that i couldn‘t make shovel-guy dig somewhere. makes me wake up at night

@grumpygamer It's on my list, just never got around to get it and play. Kids and life ...

@grumpygamer Can‘t believe it‘s been eight years! Remember following EVERY episode of the podcast/devblog. I rmember you didn‘t like the exposure but it was such a fun ride for us listeners!

@grumpygamer Omg 8 years 😳 I bought it on my xbox and later on android ... then switched the phone and forgot to finish it 🫣 thank you 🙏 NOW I'll finish that mission ❤️

@grumpygamer I really enjoyed it, beautiful game!

@grumpygamer will it ever be on sale again for Switch? Last time was 2022. It goes regularly on sale on other platforms.

@grumpygamer it was a lot of fun to play. Like all your games 🙏❤️🎉

@grumpygamer Bought it the day it came out, played it to the end that weekend. I loved every minute of it. I loved the characters, especially Delors and Ransome. I loved the story and the end had me in tears. Thank you for everything!

@grumpygamer We had an amazing time with it back then, and I always appreciate native Linux builds 😉 Thank you for this gem!

@grumpygamer I bought it but I never gotten around to playing it. I heard the guy that made it is some opinionated weirdo. That means I should like it.

@grumpygamer Gosh man, I haven't played that game since...*checks the save game on his tablet*...Friday, looks like.🧐📊

Looks like Franklin's about to talk to the kid in the Jason the Newsguy glasses!

@grumpygamer @nakieken It aged well and I once backed it from the moment seeing that there is work in progress. Unbelievable that it got eight years old today!

@grumpygamer really nice game. I even got the T-shirt and some stickers.

@grumpygamer I enjoyed it, though there is that one puzzle that I think can only be solved using information gained outside the game. Could get awkward if someone plays without an Internet connection.

I also noticed that the Linux version randomly (more often than not) crashes for me on startup. It seems to be caused by a buggy/outdated libsteam_api.so, and here's the solution I eventually came up with:

drive.google.com/drive/folders

I haven't tried replaying the game past the intro, though.

@grumpygamer Great game. Too bad I suck at adventure games and had to use the help line too often and still got stuck a couple of times.

Plot and humor is great.. I only disliked some things such as collecting specks of dust (why?) and too many player controlled characters (makes game complex if you take breaks from it and forget what you were doing with each).

@grumpygamer
The game was great.
But the podcast was worth ten times admission fee! So many legends sitting and talking about how they are creating something together, every week, for months.
As a hobbyist game developer, I will cherish the memories from that podcast the rest of my life.

Even the times you forgot to click REC and you had to repeat it all a second time. :D

@grumpygamer I played it on PC and Android. I think I enjoyed it on the latter more. An awesome game!

@grumpygamer I have always wondered about the color mode used for Thimbleween Park. Is it an original 256-color VGA with a quarter Million palette, or is it a modern 32-bit true color that uses only a VGA-like selection of colors?

@pascalparvex RGB. Millions of colors no limitations.

@grumpygamer Thank you. And how many colors are on screen?

@grumpygamer I must say that, indeed, the signals are strong tonight.

@grumpygamer I still have the tshirt from when you folks were in Berlin. I wear it as part of my teaching outfit ✨

@grumpygamer

Got and played though it on both Mac and iOS back then.

Might just get it on Switch for another replay, see if I can get one of my kids into it as well… 😉
