Sometimes I'm reminded how in Polish there's the worm colour and the herb colour, there are the months: the cold one, the flowery one, the month of sickles etc. and the currency name can be plausibly translated as "gold pieces", and I get the impression that all you need to create a fancy-sounding fantasy setting is to speak a foreign language.

@jzillw Very good point! In Finnish we have at least Oakmonth, Pearlmonth, Haymonth, and uhh… Deathsignmonth? The archaic words hidden in there are especially fantastic, after looking up their etymologies.

@robryk Czerwony, derived from czerw. The color of an earthworm, basically.

@jzillw @robryk I believe the "czerw" referred to in "czerwony" is the same as in the month name "czerwiec" (June), and it is not the earthworm (which is usually pink) but rather en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_c

en.wikipedia.orgPolish cochineal - Wikipedia

@jzillw wow... and it keeps going on! The month where leaves fall, the color of the sky and more.

One of the most interesting for me is the church, which can be read as the place of bones – because of church cemeteries?
