In all seriousness, for the 1000th time: who at MSFT do I need to convince that it is such an absurdly stupid idea to update & reboot my PC *without my consent* while it's sleeping?
"Why is it so hot in the office? Why is the PC turned on? WHY ARE MY INSTANCES OF VS CLOSED?!?"
@molecularmusing hate this so so much. I hibernate my PC then turn it off at the wall to stop it doing it!
@neilhenning @molecularmusing I just hibernate, that seems to be enough (my PC is connected to a UPS)
@sinbad @molecularmusing I’ve had my hibernating PC turn back on in the past so I lost trust!
@neilhenning @sinbad @molecularmusing Yeah, this happens regularly. After it does it doesn’t even go back into hibernate/sleep like it’s supposed to. Just sits on the login with my displays on all weekend sometimes. -_- Hard power switch it is!
@slembcke @neilhenning @sinbad @molecularmusing 100% - I switch it off completely.
@MouseByTheSea @slembcke @neilhenning @molecularmusing This might fix it for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/tbze6h/comment/i0ads3l/
I’ve been simply hibernating mine for ages without any unwanted wake ups, I think in my case it was my network adapter
@MouseByTheSea @slembcke @neilhenning @molecularmusing the reason I was particularly motivated to solve it is I have my work PC hibernate itself at a set time after work, after running daily builds. It’s more efficient than running a separate build server, but means I’m not there to physically turn it off. I haven’t had any unwanted wake up incidents for a couple of years now, I did used to get them before
