Marcus JaschenMarch 23rd. Yesterday evening, there was a lot of excitement as a helicopter landed right next door. The rescue helicopter was deployed due to a major traffic accident. Marcus JaschenFebruary 11th Did you know Brandenburg is often nicknamed "Sandenburg"? This is because much of its soil is incredibly sandy. Just a few centimeters beneath the surface, you'll find endless stretches of bright sand. This photo was taken on my lunch bike ride at the former gravel pit "Pätzer Kiesgrube" in Bestensee. Spanning approximately 30 hectares, this area was a major sand mining site for years.
