Mark and MarieThe main part of our tour while our ship was docked at Keelung, Taiwan in 2008 was to visit Jiufen, a former gold mining village high in the hills, now a bustling tourist draw thanks to its tight alleys, steep steps, shops, and abundance of tea houses. It is also claimed to be a source of inspiration for the animated classic, Spirited Away. <br> <br> It absolutely poured down while we were here, but the tight spaces and gloom lit up by shop fronts and signs was still utterly enchanting, if you don't mind a bit of claustrophobia. We walked a lot, we got drenched, we had tea in a tea house, too, and it was all wonderful.
