The <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/movie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>movie</span></a> is 3 hours long, and it is by far the messiest version of the story that I've seen. I was basically waiting for the duel that I knew would show up at the finale, but for the most part the drama of the performances and story kept me entertained.</p><p>I think this is the first version I've seen where Dantes uses <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MissionImpossible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MissionImpossible</span></a> style masks, so that was... different. 🤷♂️<br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CountOfMonteCristo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CountOfMonteCristo</span></a></p>

Is it any good?</p><p>I enjoyed the Dumas novel immensely, but few of the screen adaptations, large or small, tickle my fancy.</p><p>What's your opinion of this 2024 remake/adaptation?</p>
clacke: exhausted pixie dream boy 🇸🇪🇭🇰💙💛<p>What if "<i>The Princess Bride</i>" took itself absolutely seriously?</p><p>"<i>The Count of Monte Cristo</i>" is an absolutely ridiculous story and I love it. It's a swashbuckling Ocean's Eleven meets Mission Impossible, where the heist takes 20 years to execute.</p><p>The story has been around for 180 years, but I am fortunate enough to never have read or watched it before, so now when I watched the 2024 version, I could experience the joy of being led around every twist and turn.
