Coreyartus Imagery<p>I have to cancel today’s art livestream.</p><p>My husband bought an entire cord of firewood, and when they delivered it, they dumped it all on our sidewalk.</p><p>We just spent the last 3.5 hours carting wood to our back yard and stacking it, one laundry basket at a time.</p><p>I think my body is broken now. Haha!</p><p>I can’t stream. I need to curl up in my bed and whimper for a while.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/livestream" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>livestream</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ArtStream" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArtStream</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ArtistLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArtistLife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>So I’m in the process of putting on little “Now Proudly Relocated to Humboldt County, CA, USA) stickers on all of my greeting cards.</p><p>Because one can’t really say you’re a local artist if all your stuff implies it’s from a city 770 miles to the south.</p><p>And I can’t do that to local event managers and shopkeepers if I get into their shows. I won’t do that. </p><p>So I’ve got hundreds—literally hundreds!!--of cards to do that ‘ve already printed that have a “Made in San Diego” tagline on the back. I’m hoping this will be a good enough solution, because I can’t afford to reprint thousands of dollars worth of stock…</p><p>I’m settling in for the night, listening to good music and drinking a Humboldt Cider Company hard cherry cider. It’s chilly and wet out (as usual) so I think I’m just gonna huddle and feel productive tonight!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Artist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Artist</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ArtistLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArtistLife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/IndieArtist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndieArtist</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/GreetingCards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreetingCards</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>I wrote a new blog post about the new community I’ve moved to in Humboldt County, California. </p><p>I have so much more to share! I’m so excited about the area, and there’s so much more to explore here. </p><p><a href="https://www.coreyartusimagery.com/musings/a-bit-about-our-new-community-in-humboldt-county-ca" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">coreyartusimagery.com/musings/</span><span class="invisible">a-bit-about-our-new-community-in-humboldt-county-ca</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artistlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/NorCal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NorCal</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/moving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>moving</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>I’m getting around to joining some local arts organizations in Humboldt County, my new home. </p><p>Redwood Art Association has a member gallery downtown which I’m really excited about. It’s a big part of a local Arts Alive monthly festival they have downtown just 5minutes away from my home.<br><a href="https://www.redwoodart.net/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">redwoodart.net/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Humboldt Arts Council has calls for juried local artist shows regularly at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, so I’m also looking forward to submitting my work to those. <br><a href="https://humboldtarts.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">humboldtarts.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>Making it happen!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artistlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/IndieArtist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndieArtist</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>Last meal in San Diego before moving day: Chicken Pie Shop.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Moving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Moving</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ArtistLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArtistLife</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>Made a trip to Eureka in Northern California to check out our new house and get our keys. 14-hour drive up, 1 day to see house, then another 14-hour drive back.</p><p>I’m wiped, so there’s livestream today. I’m incredibly excited, but we have so much work to do!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artistlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>We got approved to rent a place in Eureka, CA. We'll be moving out of San Diego by the end of the month! </p><p>VERY excited to start fresh in a new community. I'll be able to have my own art studio!!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtNation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtNation</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Artlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Artlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artistlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistlife</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>I think we may be moving to Eureka. Our trip to Sacramento has just proved we wouldn’t be saving any money by moving there from San Diego. The smaller pond of Eureka will actually proffer more opportunities for me as a beginning artist, and I guess it just feels less like an average city with all the same stuff as any other community.</p><p>We’ve spent the last couple days in Sacramento looking at places we can afford, and there aren’t many that met our requirements where we’d actually feel safe. Lots of smaller apartments, but all on the steeper end than we will be able to afford. So moving there would be a lateral move for us, and therefore pointless.</p><p>Eureka comes with a lot of downsides. But we think the benefits outweigh them. For us. So we’ll begin watching the listings while we wait until June (probably) when more options become available as students end their leases after Cal Poly Humboldt gets out for the summer.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/LostCoast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LostCoast</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/humboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humboldtCounty</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/RedwoodCountry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RedwoodCountry</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/NorCal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NorCal</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>Today, I took a walk on the Trinidad Head Trail off of Trinidad, CA, and it was amazing. I think my legs and hips got one of the craziest workouts they’d ever had, but it was worth it!</p><p>The day was cool and cloudy, and everything was damp and a bit muddy, but it was also crisp and invigorating and a real joy in its own way. </p><p>I think the small town of Trinidad, however, is a very very pricey place to live. Jus’ sayin’. Those houses. Ka. Ching.</p><p>What a lovely conclusion to our time in Humboldt County!! I could live here!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/NorCal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NorCal</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/TrinidadCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TrinidadCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HumboldtCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HumboldtCounty</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>Um… Avenue of the Giants. Jus’ sayin’.</p><p>WOW. I practically cried! SO breathtaking!! Some of them are 2000 years old—the oldest living plants on Earth.</p><p>And after seeing these pics, I’ve also realized I’ve started looking like Richard Attenborough in Jurassic Park. &lt;sigh&gt;</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Redwoods" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Redwoods</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/AvenueOfTheGiants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AvenueOfTheGiants</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/forest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>forest</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/trees" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trees</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/NorCal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NorCal</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a></p>
Coreyartus Imagery<p>Got to Eureka this AM and learned it has more galleries &amp; co-ops than expected. Like, an absurd amount for its size! VERY robust arts community here.</p><p>Made it to a farmers market, Explored some of Old Town, got great food, &amp; then drove around the area. Intrigued thus far! More exploring tomorrow!</p><p>Didn’t get any good pics of our explorations today in Eureka itself—there’s plenty of that online already. But I will say it’s small-town(ish) vibe is endearing, and the two folks we asked about the community say that folks who “buy into” the community have a tendency to be deeply committed to it. I think that’s very evident by the activism, initiatives, and small businesses here… So that’s a plus!</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EurekaCA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EurekaCA</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artistlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artistlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/relocating" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>relocating</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/artlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artlife</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/humboldt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humboldt</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/humboldtcounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humboldtcounty</span></a></p>
