Swede’s Photographs<p>Field Sparrow?</p><p>I think this is a field sparrow (Spizella pusilla), but I'm not sure. There are a lot of those around, but I haven't knowingly seen one until now, me thinks. Unless I find out different that is what it is. Feel free to chime in iffen you'uz knows what it be. :-)</p><p>"The clear, “bouncing-ball” trill of the Field Sparrow is a familiar summer sound in brushy fields and roadsides of the East and Midwest. The singer is a small, warm-toned sparrow with a rusty cap, neat white eye ring, and pink bill. Though still common, Field Sparrows have declined sharply in the last half-century, partly because of the expansion of suburbs, where Field Sparrows will not nest. Populations in the prairies have remained strong thanks in part to measures like the Conservation Reserve Program." - allaboutbirds.org</p><p>Visit my gallery at:</p><p><a href="https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">swede1952-photographs.pixels.c</span><span class="invisible">om</span></a></p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photo</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photographer</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/photographylovers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photographylovers</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/bird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bird</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birds</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/birding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birding</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/birdwatching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birdwatching</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/birdphotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>birdphotography</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/FieldSparrow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FieldSparrow</span></a></p>
Michael PerryPersonal bird news: The California Bird Records Committee unanimously accepted this March 29 observation of a Field Sparrow, rare enough that they say there are fewer than two occurrences per year in the state. <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/FieldSparrow?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FieldSparrow</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/RareBirds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RareBirds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/CaliforniaBirdRecordsCommittee?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CaliforniaBirdRecordsCommittee</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GriffithPark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GriffithPark</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GriffithParkBirds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GriffithParkBirds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/RareBirdsOfCalifornia?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RareBirdsOfCalifornia</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/CBRC?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CBRC</a>
Michael PerryThis Neil Armstrong of birds (or perhaps, Avian Amelia Earhart?) crossed the Rocky Mountains solo, the first Field Sparrow to be spotted in California many years, a humble-looking but intrepid half-ounce explorer far from its usual habitat. A single 2-minute sighting in Griffith Park drew birders from near and far trying to see it again, so far to no avail.<br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Birdphotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Birdphotography</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Birdphotos?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Birdphotos</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/naturephotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#naturephotography</a><br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/naturephotos?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#naturephotos</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/birds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#birds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/birders?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#birders</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/birding?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#birding</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GriffithPark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GriffithPark</a><br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GriffithParkBirds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GriffithParkBirds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/fieldsparrow?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#fieldsparrow</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/sparrow?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#sparrow</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/rarebird?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#rarebird</a>
