Pascal Leinert<p>Ich habe mir für einen neuen Laptop jetzt mal 32 GB RAM und eine 2 TB NVMe SSD bestellt und habe mich mal umgeguckt, wie man denn eine Platte so klont, vor allem in <a href="https://social.pascal-leinert.de/tags/Linux" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Linux</a>. Videos reden von <a href="https://social.pascal-leinert.de/tags/Clonezilla" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Clonezilla</a> oder <a href="https://social.pascal-leinert.de/tags/Foxclone" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Foxclone</a>. Dann ich habe mal <a href="https://social.pascal-leinert.de/tags/perplexityai" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#perplexityai</a><span> gefragt und was kam heraus?<br><br>sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb status=progress<br><br>Warum nicht gleich so? Warum muss man immer alles so kompliziert machen, wenn es nicht sein muss? DD ist doch super easy.</span></p>
Wolf Munroe ☎<p>Also, if you need to clone a drive, from my experience, FoxClone is good. I recommend it. </p><p>It is basically a minimal Linux distro that boots from a USB drive or disc (I burned it on a CD) and has a number of Linux drive/partition management tools included in addition to the FoxClone backup/cloning software itself. </p><p>The PDF instructions for FoxClone are also included right on the FoxClone desktop, and they were very helpful. </p><p>Anyway, my two cents. </p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/FoxClone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FoxClone</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Software" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Software</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Backup</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/WorthALook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WorthALook</span></a></p>
Wolf Munroe ☎<p>And, as of today, I have been running Linux Mint for 1 year. </p><p>On 12 June 2023 I took out my 1 GB Windows 10 SATA HDD and 16 GB Optane drive and replaced them with an old 1.5 GB 7200rpm SATA HDD that had been stored 10 years. </p><p>After a few months on Mint, in November 2023, I saw in my S.M.A.R.T. logs that the very old HDD was returning some errors and reporting some bad sectors so I used <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/FoxClone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FoxClone</span></a> to clone my Linux install to a brand-new (Crucial T500) 2 GB NVMe SSD. </p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/LinuxMint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxMint</span></a></p>
