EpiscoGrrl<p><a href="https://ground.news/article/sudanese-return-to-their-homeland-hoping-for-stability-but-finding-it-still-wrecked-by-war?utm_source=mobile-app&utm_medium=article-share" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ground.news/article/sudanese-r</span><span class="invisible">eturn-to-their-homeland-hoping-for-stability-but-finding-it-still-wrecked-by-war?utm_source=mobile-app&utm_medium=article-share</span></a> My <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/EpiscopalChurch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EpiscopalChurch</span></a> has sponsored & supported several <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/Sudanese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sudanese</span></a> <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/refugees" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>refugees</span></a> over the years, including a now priest (who is one of my favorite people & the only ordination I’ve attended since Covid) Few, if any, of the families we’ve helped settle in the U.S. are thinking of returning to <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/Sudan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sudan</span></a> this story reminds us of the importance of welcoming <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/immigrants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>immigrants</span></a> & of <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/home" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>home</span></a> These are people who have fled <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/war" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>war</span></a> & <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/famine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>famine</span></a> as the Israelites did in the Old Testament. These are people seeking a better life & future for themselves & their families. When we call for an end to <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/immigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>immigration</span></a> we forget that our forbears were all <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/immigrants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>immigrants</span></a> at some point. We forget that we are called to welcome others as we were welcomed. On the <a href="https://episcodon.net/tags/NationalDayofPrayer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NationalDayofPrayer</span></a> let us all pray for the grace to welcome strangers, seeing in them our future friends.</p>
