If you’re interested in watching the shit show it’s streamed on this channel. I think they start at 9:30 but maybe 9:00. And you’ll just want to find the Senate HHS on 4/23.

The Reddit link in the post above has instructions on how to make public comment. The senate public comments aren’t as accessible as the house. BUT they are public so people who know how to find them can read them.

Please don’t let them take healthcare from trans people. I don’t like house bill 606, I think it’s going to guarantee that women don’t get diagnosed with endometriosis or PCOS or anything that would justify us getting a tubal ligation or a hysterectomy since they want us to be available for breeding. But I’m not going to oppose it because hopefully I’m wrong. And it will probably help some people.

BUT TAKING HEALTHCARE FROM TRANS PEOPLE DOES NOT HELP ANYONE ANYWHERE.

Due to the predatory, underregulated, private US healthcare delivery system, rising premiums are pricing small employers out of the market.

"About 27% of the small employers that were paying health insurance premiums in 2022 stopped paying the premiums in 2023."

A "small employer" is defined as having fewer than 50 employees.

From the Stat newsletter: #UnitedHealthcare is facing potential shareholder lawsuits and multiple government investigations, including a Department of Justice antitrust probe focused on how it uses its physician workforce to benefit its insurance business. While it largely remains in a defensive crouch, #UnitedHealth has begun pushing back, enlisting libel attorneys to go after critics on social media, attempting to squelch dissent from shareholders, and publicly blaming hospitals and drug companies for high prices. It is also moving to align itself with the new Trump administration.

Wheelchair-bound Terie Gelberg has lived at the Harborside, a retirement community on Long Island’s North Shore, for almost two decades. It was supposed to be the last home for the 99-year-old with memory issues, but plans to sell the bankrupt facility to a private equity firm threaten to upend her care. She, alongside other residents of Harborside’s Port Washington nursing home, memory-care and assisted-living units will be forced to relocate if a bankruptcy court judge approves Focus Healthcare Partners’ $80 million deal to buy the complex in February.
