Everything Open Conference<p>Most of us have <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ARM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ARM</span></a> CPUs in our pockets as we attend the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/EverythingOpen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EverythingOpen</span></a> 2024 conference in Gladstone. </p><p>ARM, a King Penguin sponsor of the conference develops the Total Compute reference software stack, a fully integrated open-source stack, from firmware up to Android. </p><p>Total Compute provides frameworks for programming, analyzing, and debugging across all IP, including <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/CPUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CPUs</span></a>, <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/GPUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GPUs</span></a>, and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/NPUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NPUs</span></a>, making developers lives easier! </p><p>Thanks for <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/sponsoring" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sponsoring</span></a>, <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ARM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ARM</span></a>!</p><p><a href="https://www.arm.com/markets/consumer-technologies/total-compute" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">arm.com/markets/consumer-techn</span><span class="invisible">ologies/total-compute</span></a></p>

Michael H<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://theatl.social/@ShmosKnows" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ShmosKnows</span></a></span> On the NPU side of things, in at least NPU-V, there isn't a lot of committee work. The reason being is that most of the "work" is done by the constituent neighborhood associations, whose members and leadership comprise the <a href="https://theatl.social/tags/NPUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NPUs</span></a>.</p><p>However, the neighborhood associations themselves have very active committee work. For <a href="https://theatl.social/tags/AdairPark" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AdairPark</span></a>, that's where the functional/practical work gets done. In terms of getting involved, anyone who is a neighbor or owns a business (in Adair Park) is welcome to join committees - and committees select their own leadership.</p><p>My role as president of Adair Park Today (with the Board) is to support the committees and ensure they have the funding and support needed to implement policies and programs.</p><p>Most other neighborhood associations in <a href="https://theatl.social/tags/Atlanta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Atlanta</span></a> function in a similar manner - some focus more on some issues than others, but the neighborhood associtions are effectively the smallest unit of government in <a href="https://theatl.social/tags/Atlanta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Atlanta</span></a>.</p>
James Devine<p>A valid perspective. In fairness most manufacturers/integrators are only pushing <a href="https://friends.devinemarsa.com/tags/npus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>npus</span></a> for low power edge <a href="https://friends.devinemarsa.com/tags/AI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AI</span></a> which is actually what they are good at. But yes, GPUs are still king, and CPUs are remarkably decent too considering cost/power provided you have enough ram. <br>NPUs are officially useless -- for now | Digital Trends<br><a href="https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/npus-are-useless/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">digitaltrends.com/computing/np</span><span class="invisible">us-are-useless/</span></a></p>
