EVERY WINTER PRECIPITATION (AND HAIL!):

The past several days have been a smorgasbord of #winter #precipitation falling across the #Northland. That included #snow, #sleet, and #freezingrain.

There was even #hail with a couple #thunderstorms Friday afternoon, including the first #severe thunderstorm warnings for 2025!

#Snowfall is still occurring in some parts this afternoon. That will move out by tonight.

A list of the largest hailstones that fell across the Northland on March 28, 2025, measured by their diameter. They were 1.25-inches in South Range, Wisconsin, 1-inch in Wrenshall, Minnesota, 0.88-inches in Oliver, Wisconsin, 0.75-inches in Tamarack, Minnesota and Washburn, Wisconsin, and 0.70-inches in Superior, Wisconsin.

Freezing rain totals measured in the Northland since March 28, 2025 through March 30, 2025 include 0.33-inches in Wales, Minnesota, 0.25-inches in Hibbing, Minnesota, 0.20-inches in Silver Bay, Wisconsin, 0.14-inches in Ashland, Wisconsin, 0.13-inches in the Duluth, Minnesota area, and 0.13-inches in Herbster, Wisconsin.

The highest snowfall totals reported to the National Weather Service offices in Duluth, Minnesota and Marquette, Michigan as of 3 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) on March 30, 2025 include 8-inches at Ironwood, Michigan, 6.2-inches in Bergland, Michigan, 5.8-inches Cedar, Wisconsin, 5.3-inches in Ashland, Wisconsin, 5.1-inches in Ontonagon, Michigan, 5-inches in Moquah, Wisconsin, and 4.8-inches in Namekagon, Wisconsin.

The satellite and radar over the Northland at 3:45 p.m. on March 30, 2025, shows snow showers continues over northwest Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula as it moves to the east. Cloud cover persists over the Minnesota region, with some clearing taking place over parts of Itasca and Koochiching counties.

NORTHLAND FORECAST FOR MARCH 6, 2025:

A #high-pressure system will #clear #clouds across the #Northland Wednesday night and #calm #winds. Low #temperatures will drop to the teens and upper single digits.

A weak #front will bring some clouds back to the region Thursday, but we remain #dry as a #breeze returns. Highs will #warm back to the 30s.

The Far North, stretching across the northern tip of Northland, is arguably the most spectacular section of the coastal highway—the only road connecting Kaitaia to Cape Reinga. Our first stop was Rarawa Beach, near the Ngataki community. Having visited before, I was eager to return and capture the beauty of its striking white sand. This hidden gem boasts pristine, textured dunes that make it truly unforgettable.

I decided to make this image a panorama to highlight the horizontal orientation of the dune that leads towards the ocean.

Some breaks in the #cloud cover are taking place, but #snow #showers are also passing through and along the #SouthShore.

Final day before #Christmas, and what's a #weatherman to do!

I had to break out the two #sweaters that I have for the #holiday from the closet and wore them #on-air.

Which one do you like better?

Sweater number one is an ugly Christmas sweater style that showcases a couple wolves wearing either a Santa hat or green reindeer antlers. It has a cresent moon in the background, with a pattern of white reindeer above it. It is hard to describe, but if you have seen one ugly Christmas sweater, you get the idea what this one would look like.

Sweater number two is one that I bought a number of years ago when the NFL created their version of ugly Christmas sweaters for each team. This one showcases my love for the Green Bay Packers, as it is a mixture of green and gold patterns with snowflakes and other winter accessories. There are a number of Packers "G" logos on it, along with the words "Packers".

A storm system moving out of the Northland will push out the last of its snow showers Monday night. A breeze from the northwest will make the teens and low 20s for lows feel more like single digits.

The Northland will be dry for Tuesday with a bit of sunshine from time to time. Winds will be slowly decreasing in strength. Temperatures will be seasonal with highs in the 20s.
