kravietz 🦇
A whole parade of #Russia activists and publicists expressing their anger and disgust of Vladimir Bodelan, former head of emergency services in #Odesa during the tragic #Odessa2014 fire. On that day Bodelan personally gave an order not to send fire brigades to and delayed their arrival for an hour, contributing to the large number of victims.

The Russians express their anger because immediately after that murderous negligence that killed mostly Russian-speaking activists Bodelan… escaped to Russia and was awarded high government positions there.

So just to reiterate:

Since 2014 Russia accused Ukraine of murder or at best causing death of Russian activists who burned on 2 May 2014 in the House of Unions. Russia made it a central point in their propaganda even though all evidence indicates the fire started from inside from a badly thrown Molotov’s cocktail.

At the same time Russia offered asylum to one of the main contributors to the tragedy and not only not started an investigation against him, but quite the opposite - awarded him well paid positions in Russian administration.

Russian activists are outraged about Bodelan’s role in the tragedy, but the only thing they do is to write emotional posts on Telegram and none of them actually filed any formal complaint with the Investigative Commitee or any government organisations. Of course, they never had any problem to denounce other people for such a terrible crime as speaking Ukrainian language.

The best ending to this story was written by Bodelan himself: he’s got his own Telegram channel where each 2 May he makes a sad face in a church and speaks as as he was the main victim of the tragedy. And nobody challenges him.

Russian blind cowardice towards the authorities is a well-known phenomenon but anyone who knows Russia understands why this is the case. All of them perfectly understand that if Bodelan was offered asylum and awarded with job, he must have been working for Russia from the start and remains under protection of FSB.

What kind of job Bodelan was doing in Odessa on 2 May 2014 is left as an exercise to the readers…
