CarolannieHairy curtain crust mushroom (Stereum hirsutum) sometimes called false turkey tail is a small mushroom with colorful caps, no stipe and a smooth poreless undercap. They couldn't even get a pitchfork into the frozen masses in the bins! The soil is frozen too, so turning anything over is doomed. BUT...if the compost was fermenting, should it have frozen? I know the piles haven't been turned since I started my gardens there, so that's 18 months, way too long.
