Bob Collins<p>I moved to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Sunnyvale" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sunnyvale</span></a>, California, in the mid-1990s. Sunnyvale is the geographic center of what was <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SiliconValley" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SiliconValley</span></a>. </p><p>As an electronic design engineer, I was at the most exciting place I could imagine. I was with my tribe.</p><p>Over the past two decades, corrupted by get-big-quick <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/VC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VC</span></a> business models and sloppy software-only development "products," Silicon Valley has a new ID: ugly "bros" whose only interests are control and money.</p><p>I recently moved away from the Valley. I find I don't miss it much.</p>
