Ed Wiebe<p>Rain at <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/UVic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UVic</span></a> was quite low this year. Is it worrying? Maybe. Rain in the Spring is really important since climatologically we don't get much in Summer. A dry Spring increases fire risk and stresses our water supply system. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/VIctoriaBC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VIctoriaBC</span></a></p>
Ed Wiebe<p>It was warmer than usual, but not by much, and not the warmest April I've observed at <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/UVic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UVic</span></a>.</p>

Ed Wiebe<p>I have someone asking me to help with a PolaRx5 <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/GNSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GNSS</span></a> that can only send observations (via satellite) using FTP (!). No one here at <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/UVic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UVic</span></a> wants to set up an <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/FTP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FTP</span></a> server. I don't want to. It would be attacked relentlessly. </p><p>Apparently the device can be polled from here over ssh: it's not going to have static IP. The user is going to use <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Starlink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Starlink</span></a> (not my choice). Does dynamic DNS work with that service? </p><p>Battery power at the site limits options quite a bit as well. </p><p>Suggestions? Ideas?</p>

Ed Wiebe<p>I finally found some time to finish my March weather summary for <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/UVic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UVic</span></a>, and to post the Month in a Minute sky video. </p><p>The big problem I face is that my oldest weather station site, the ISC at UVic is going to go offline soonish. They are demolishing the site to make way for new housing. The site I will be relying on going forward is on BWC. It's quite different from ISC. I'll be working on some kind of characterisation of the differences in the coming months. </p><p><a href="https://www.victoriaweather.ca/summaries.php" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">victoriaweather.ca/summaries.p</span><span class="invisible">hp</span></a></p>
Ed Wiebe<p>We're having a bake-off this morning at work. The theme is citrus. I made blueberry-lemon sweet rolls with lemon-yuzu curd. <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/UVic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UVic</span></a></p>
