Justine SmithiesGave up on <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenBSD</a> for now as it's too locked down for my liking and I was really wanting to setup <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=xorg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Xorg</a> on the freebie Dell Optiplex 3080 Tower and use <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=xterm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Xterm</a> as my terminal with <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=sixel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Sixel</a> support. So I've installed <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=freebsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FreeBSD</a> and got Xterm running with Sixel support ( graphics in the terminal ). Who's a happy chic that's feeling all nostalgic right now ? That's right moi ! <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=runbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RunBSD</a><br>

Jan <3<p>I know it has its drawbacks, but the fact that you can just add a program like picom to <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Xorg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Xorg</span></a> / <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/X11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>X11</span></a> and get fancy effects is just amazing. In <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Wayland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Wayland</span></a> you need to hope for your window manager to support effects and use their specific implementation</p>

Justine SmithiesStill playing around with <a href="https://snac.smithies.me.uk?t=openbsd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenBSD</a> on my Desktop PC and to be honest I thought I'd hate it but you know what ? Mika<p>Wow, <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/SteamOS" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SteamOS</a> 3.7 will be huge for <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/SteamDeck" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SteamDeck</a> - honestly didn't think <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Valve" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Valve</a> would even consider upgrading to <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/KDE" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#KDE</a> Plasma 6 seeing how, while has been superb for me, it's still buggy and rather littered with regressions compared to Plasma 5 mostly due to <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Wayland" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Wayland</a>, unless they'll still be using <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Xorg" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Xorg</a><span> instead (unlikely)?<br><br>Also super curious to see whether it's true that the update will really bring the "wake from sleep" using Bluetooth controllers on the LCD Deck, cos I've always thought, based on what others have been saying that only the OLED Deck has the (hardware) capabilities to do so - maybe not? All in all, super hyped for this tho I wonder when can we expect it to reach the Stable branch.<br><br>RE: </span><a href="https://mastodon.world/users/steamdeckhq/statuses/114164430520325919" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://mastodon.world/users/steamdeckhq/statuses/114164430520325919</a></p>
Felix Palmen :freebsd: :c64:<p>Well, I really like <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/X11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>X11</span></a> (<a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/Xorg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Xorg</span></a>) ... and my son loves <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/PeppaPig" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PeppaPig</span></a>. Which gives me a stupid idea. I could write something called <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/Xchicken" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Xchicken</span></a>. Make some chicken lay some eggs with mouse clicks on some <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/XRender" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>XRender</span></a> surface.</p><p>Rough roadmap:<br>- Draw some chicken and eggs, probably as SVG?<br>- Reuse code from <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/Xmoji" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Xmoji</span></a>, add special widget supporting some "layered canvas"<br>- Implement game logic<br>- Add sound? (Hm, gotta look into <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/OSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OSS</span></a> and maybe <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/sndio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sndio</span></a>, cause <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/FreeBSD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FreeBSD</span></a> ... <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> weirdness maybe later)<br>- ....?</p><p>I'll probably never start though 🙈</p>
