Meet Grace, a beautifully restored church turned restaurant turned event hall in Portland, Maine, USA. Taken in May of 2019, approximately 10 years post-restoration during the re-imagining phase into the event hall, heading in for a photoshoot set that I was so honored to be the makeup artist and shoot assistant on! Maia KB Chowdhury<p>Touching down lightly here to say, Happy New Year! I cannot believe it has been so long since I posted here. Though I post often on IG, a habit I suppose, I am not so often on here. I love this platform but it stopped working on my phone, that is probably why. How is everyone?!</p><p>In my catching up mode, here are three good things... </p><p>1. My <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/HouseReno" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HouseReno</span></a> is coming along beautifully and the <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/RetainingWall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetainingWall</span></a> I was so worried about is being reconstructed today. Though it was supposed to all be done by the middle of last August, a combination of delays, weather and adding more items to the scope, have extended the schedule. It's OK. I love it.<br>2. I'm well into my doctorate in business admin program (focus on <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/OrganizationalLeadership" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OrganizationalLeadership</span></a>) and really enjoying it. For the most of each of the days and weeks leading up to an assignment being due, I feel like I'm grappling with concepts (I don't have an MBA; this is a <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/DBA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DBA</span></a>). Then, in the hours before, during and after submitting an assignment, I think, "wow, that wasn't hard at all." I am learning!<br>3. Work is fascinating, daily, and I feel so fortunate to be connected to bright, solutions-focused people working in architecture and engineering. My projects are now spanning two countries and involving more <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/CarbonModeling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarbonModeling</span></a> and <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/Sustainability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sustainability</span></a> oversight. I do a lot of quality control reviews of <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/HistoricRestoration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HistoricRestoration</span></a> / <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/AdaptiveReuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AdaptiveReuse</span></a> sustainability-related projects.
