Peter Nimmo<p>In today's epistle, <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Paul" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Paul</span></a> to the Church at Ephesus makes incredible claims about people who have faith in <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Christ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christ</span></a>: "Blessed be the <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/God" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>God</span></a> and Father of our Lord <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Jesus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jesus</span></a> Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places". This to a tiny, persecuted minority, who were to be witnesses to peace and love in a Roman <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Empire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Empire</span></a> built on fear and <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/violence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>violence</span></a>. Utterly nuts, but utterly hopeful, too!<br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/MiniSermon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MiniSermon</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Lectionary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lectionary</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Bible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bible</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Christianity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christianity</span></a><br><a href="https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/texts.php?id=210#epistle_reading" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">lectionary.library.vanderbilt.</span><span class="invisible">edu/texts.php?id=210#epistle_reading</span></a></p>
Peter Nimmo<p>For me, the miracle of mainstream <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Christian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christian</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/doctrine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>doctrine</span></a> isn't that <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/God" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>God</span></a> became <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/human" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>human</span></a>, but that God became human in a particular human- <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Jesus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Jesus</span></a>, son of <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Joseph" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Joseph</span></a> the carpenter and of <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/Mary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mary</span></a>, who was so human he couldn't do anything with the contempt of the people who knew him best<br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/bible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bible</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/lectionary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lectionary</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/minisermon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>minisermon</span></a><br><a href="https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/texts.php?id=209#gospel_reading" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">lectionary.library.vanderbilt.</span><span class="invisible">edu/texts.php?id=209#gospel_reading</span></a></p>
