Luv Mehta
it is kind of funny that there's regularly two types of posts #OnHere, one by disabled people praising the Fedi for its inclusivity and culture of alt text, the other by nonwhite people calling this space out for the racism, both subtle and explicit, that they've faced way more than other platforms.

Tbh even i've caught some racism by those known nazi instances and some throwaway platforms, defederated ofc but it does suck that it proves a decentralized platform is more prone to bigots than centralized ones.

🍄Inoculating the Odd in AuDHD
Someone #onHere shared the substack "At Heart Panderia" because they release "cookbook zines". I'm not used to substack and got auto-subscribed to recommended substacks including "Concha Emoji" by Channey.

One of the recent recipes was for a "caramel-forward" chocolate chip cookie. I was drawn by their call for "melted-but-not-browned" butter and milk powder (which I've never used in cooking before). Since I have been very ill for a week, I have been trying to dote on myself with nice treats and splurged on eggs.

I think my results came out looking a little different because:
- I used two eggs with both the yolk and the white, instead of just the yolk for the second one
- I was not able to get the milk powder to dissolve
- I used unsalted butter instead of salted

At the end of the day, the cookies are still impressive and delicious. They might look smooth and dry on top, but inside they're gooey. In comparison to my usual recipe, their elegance makes me feel that they would make more worthy gifts (I love to share with my neighbors). Thanks to whoever had recommended that zine!

https://open.substack.com/pub/conchaemoji/p/chocolate-chip-cookies

My usual Martha Stewart recipe, which is not as caramel forward. It tends to get cookies that look a little inconsistent, but still taste great. https://www.marthastewart.com/344840/soft-and-chewy-chocolate-chip-cookies

#cooking #baking #cookies #recipe

Jason Anthony Guy
It's back on Apple TV, but still failing on iOS and MLB.com.

(On a meta note, I'm disappointed by the apparent lack of discussion of this issue #OnHere. Brad Rosenheim
@gleick Most (99.9%) of us on here could have predicted this. We knew they were children. We knew the awesome power they were handed, without any qualifications at all. If you had asked 1000 people #OnHere to write a screen play about this administration, I would say at least 50 of them would have had a transaction of low-substance, high-testosterone bro-talk jeopardizing our national security.

But the horrifying part of this is that half of the population of this underachieving and complacent nation will think this is the exact way that foreign policy should be conducted. They haven't been paying attention to anything but Fox News and they won't pay attention to anything else. As the feckless minority party clamors (maybe whispers) for criminal charges over this, Fox will sweep it under the carpet and most USians (yes, most) will think that international politics should play out like bullies on the playground.
https://tenor.com/NOu4.gif

Amazon did send me a refund and i bought a new monitor.

today, my repaired monitor arrived. it's not my monitor. it's a 32" 240hz oled one which costs four times as much than the one i sent in for repair. it arrived with its packaging already opened and the power cable missing. i assume there was some mix-up and some poor sod now has my old one.

i now have a new monitor, the money for my old monitor, and an Extremely Expensive monitor i can't use, idk what to do. fucking hell ough
