The Celestines were a Roman Catholic monastic order founded in 1244. They were invited to come to Bologna in 1368 by nobleman Antonio Di Ubaldino Galluzzi. The church had pretty extensive work done to it during the 16th century and has remained pretty much the the same all these years later.<br>
The Celestines are no longer around and there has been some changes in the function of the church over the years. At one point it was part of the school for engineering. Today it houses state archives and they still hold masses and stuff. (I'm pretty sure - there was a mass timetable on the door)<br>
