Even the people who are "fortunate" enough to survive being struck by a driver who was speeding or running a red light are often left with life-changing injuries. People who once were thriving are left unable to manage even basic self-care, much less a career.We shouldn't be discussing reduced penalties for speeding. We should instead be discussing taking away both the license AND the car of anyone who drives dangerously.This is personal for me. I won't go into detail because I try to keep my Mastodon account anonymous, but I will say that someone I'm close to was horrifically damaged by a driver who wasn't obeying traffic laws.
