Hi dear #OpenStreetMap -community! I made a #tagging #proposal to tag grab rails (aka grab bars, handrails, support brackets) in #wheelchair #accessible toilets and I'm searching feedback.
I'd appreciate your feedback: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposal:Grab_rails
@pietervdvn All of those features are genuinely great but there's no real utility in them if there are no navigation apps that actually make use of the information.
I know not a single OSM-based app that lets me navigate to accessible toilets only, or bike parking with a rain shelter, or stairs with ramps only, even though all that information is already in the dataset.
@lianna It thr data isn't there, no one will bother to build an app for it either ;)
I'm the main dev of https://mapcomplete.org which has quite a few filters, so that is a start already
@pietervdvn That looks really cool!
Unfortunately it seems to be browser-only and it doesn't work on my phone due to the lack of WebGL support in my browser.
@lianna There is a version where the website is packages as app: https://app.mapcomplete.org . Does that work for you?
(Will be on F-Droid soon™)
@pietervdvn It does work for me. Is it intentionally almost half a gigabyte big?
