I am always super glad when languages actually have a design philosophy, and don't just keep adding stuff on top, but also remove stuff that's stale.
That being said, the internet is a bit exceptional, as you can't just keep targetting a certain compiler or runtime. You're dependent on people's browsers. So preservation suffers, and we end up with HTML rot
