x8 @pikuma Genuinely asking: Is there something about the notation that would make this -9 instead of 9?
I know (-3)² = 9 and -(3²) = -9, but I'm not sure what would differentiate -3² as the latter and not the former

I am sure most of you are now aware of how this works, but I'll leave a quick explanation written down for those that would like a bit of light on the topic.
If you see the expression -3² written using this type of notation in a math book, we usually agree that the exponent

So it's not a 100% consensus thing (yet?), but majority and best practices prioritize the exponent in the order of operations
