I wrote a retrospective of my time playing Eternal Sonata with my sons when they were young, and about how my own son's death happened while he was listening to music. I take a lot of solace in that knowledge. Music, and video games, are so important.
@prime INCREDIBLE read, dude. I went through a divorce too over a decade ago now and my son just turned 18, I never even thought I'd live into my 40s and here I am. Looks like you dealt with depression too- it's such a bastard. But yeah, my kid and I have played some magical games together, too - what amazing bonding experiences they can be. Things like this you've written here should illustrate that games are nothing less than priceless art, something that can bring a family together like this. Thank you for writing this, man.
@jake4480 thank you so much for saying this. It means the world to me.
@prime Just read your post and I'm crying at the end.
Being a father of two kids myself, and just starting the video game journey with them. Finished Luigi's Mansion 3 with my son just two days ago. Lots of Animal Crossing with both kids as well.
It's really special.
@blindcoder thank you very much for these kind words. I'm so glad your video game journey with your kids is just beginning. What a tremendous joy.
Spoiler: my older son is 27 and we game together just about every night. We just wrapped up Borderlands together. We play and have a video chat going every night along with his best friend who is like another son to me. These nights spent gaming with them are an absolute treasure.
@prime I heard about this game for the first time recently. What an odd game concept, and what a nice remembrance write-up about it
@swade Thank you
