You have an amazing game idea and now it's time to...
@freakdave If it's a single person or a small team, I'd say to quickly write a few notes and immediately start prototyping. After the prototype is done and tested, a lean GDD can definitely help with direction.
There's a lot of unrealized ideas out there because small teams try to write massive GDDs as soon as they get an idea, but then never actually test it or get to the iteration/ideation phase that follows.
The quicker an idea can be tested to see if it works/connects the better!
@jorgegamedev @freakdave it all depends on what is critical and important for the game. Is it the fantastic mechanics, the story, the audio, the visuals... I tend to always go for backdrop first, aka GDD and briefs. Bc it's hard to squeeze that onto an existing world. However, that's what's important for me. For other people in my team, testing the code and animations is obviously most important. I don't know how #solodevs do it.
