I'm a #guitartech, I've worked under many people, worked for Guitar Center, and had my own shop for a time. I still do it on the side these days & I'm always happy to give advice. I've worked on everything with strings that isn't a classical instrument.

I #DIY a lot because I often find cookie cutter or off the shelf solutions to be lacking. I'm often seen making or modifying some thing to better fit my use cases.

Here’s a prelim rough mix of my bizarre 3-chord rockabilly protest 12-bar thing, “March Like Hell.” Gretsch 5422 was used for the 3 rhythm tracks, bass was Fender p-bass and banjo solo is a Gold Tone Cripple Creek 6-String Banjitar (same tuning as guitar). Drums are MT Power Drum Kit free plugin. Basic A-D-E chord fingering repeat progression with everything capo’d at the 3rd fret. Used slap delay on the Gretsch and 15ms delay on the banjo. Pedals on the Gretsch were Keeley compressor, TC Flashback delay and MXR Timmy for some very mild overdrive. 160bpm, 1:50 song length. Tracked some subtle chorus backing vocals tonight. Gotta listen tomorrow and see how it sounds before adding to the mix. #guitar #music #recording #banjo #gearsquad #songwriting #bass #mentalhealth
@stonebear2
That is remarkable
Not sure how he’s doing all that with two hands
And now for something COMPLETELY different, and yet hauntingly familiar. My Scottish cousin is half-right, this USED to be a local tune, when the oldest mountains in the world weren't cut in half by a wee ocean...
Duelling... accordia?
Another basement evening in the music corner. Listened to the banjo track takes from last night’s session. Got a couple good ones. Tuning was fine. The mic placement and levels were set up just right too. Definitely works for the song. Tried 25ms of delay on the track. Sounds okay. I’ll try some test backing chorus oohs or aahs tomorrow night over the main vocal and see how that works. #music #banjo #guitar #recording #gearsquad
Basement session tonight. Tracking the pre-final verse solo part on this freaky rockabilly protest tune. Was going to use guitar, then thought I’d try banjo for an even weirder vibe. Channelling my inner Pete Seeger. A few years ago I picked up a used Gold Tone 6-string banjo off craigslist. It’s well built, but a bit quirky tuning. Very sensitive to getting out of tune. Tuners are good; likely the floating bridge, the tailpiece and neck joint with 6 strings is pretty intense. It’s gonna work, I think. Got it to hold tune okay, but tuning between each take. Put down a bunch of test tracks. Used the CAD Audio GXL1200 small diaphragm condenser pencil mic. Pretty decent sound. I’ll see what I’ve got tomorrow night. #music #recording #guitar #banjo #gearsquad
As we also have a #banjo in our midst, we will join the fun on #TuneTuesday #BanjoYay
Willem kicks off this blues on banjo, singing the tale of a desperate man looking for his love, making a deal with the devil on the gravel road.

Should he take the right hand road? Alas, we'll never know for sure..

Seriously, though.
You can't go wrong with some jazz #banjo on #TuneTuesday

Wrote and recorded this tune a couple of years ago. It’s about a fictional ghost band mate with me down in the basement. He’s a very hip guy. #music #banjo #guitar #songwriting #recording https://youtu.be/lJMiBkg_tqc?si=Y-4xsNNQUT7KEtw3

The East Village Guitar Festival kicks off this weekend. The event will feature over 20 local and regional guitarists. I'll be bringing my banjo/electric guitar hybrid to perform a set of improvisations similar to the pieces on my 2021 Tell A Gossip recording from Tape Drift Records.

Dock Boggs would often play in mining camps. This became a dangerous occupation as #mining #camps at that time, were known to be rough and violent especially with #miners drinking #moonshine.
He was rediscovered by Pete Seeger.
