It was a gorgeous spring day today in SE Massachusetts! I took a nice long walk along the #CapeCod canal all the way to the end of this jetty that lines the entrance to the canal from the ocean. Looked for whales that had been active here lately, but no sign of spouts. Maybe they've just moved on to another spot. #FootpathFriday #ocean
Our four shelters in #Boston, #Methuen, #Salem, and Centerville on #CapeCod are participating, as are #Lowell Humane and MASS partners Berkshire Humane, #Worcester ARL, Boston Animal Control, Dakin Humane, and Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center.
It starts April 21 and runs through April 27. Hours vary by location, with Dakin participating only on April 25 and 26. Visit http://www.mspca.org/dogs for more information!
People often shy away from these breeds because they believe they’re more difficult for kids to manage, but they’re actually more docile than some smaller breeds, and the ones in our care are super sweet!
Anyone interested in adopting can visit our #Boston, #Methuen, and #CapeCod Adoption Centers during open hours, which vary by location. More info here: https://www.mspca.org/news/mspca-angell-seeks-homes-for-dozens-of-bunnies-ahead-of-easter/
NEW: We’ve got dozens of bunnies in our care in need of new homes! 44 #rabbits were surrendered recently from a property in Bristol County. They range in age with some as young as eight-weeks-old, and they’re mostly large breeds, including Californian, Chinchilla, and Rex.
It’s a blustery day today on #CapeCod. A cold wind and driving rain. Translation— a great day for kite boarders! I watched this skilled kite boarder for a long time as he skillfully moved back and forth along the shoreline. Some in-air acrobatics were immediately followed by plunges into the icy water (42 deg F, 5C). He wore a full neoprene suit for protection. #ocean #beach #SeaScape
I finally got around to converting one of my favorite clay samples into a decorating slip. This was an epic find, on the shores of #CapeCod in the summer of 2023, one of the most beautiful deposits of #WildClay I’ve seen: A small fresh water spring carrying #clay down a cliff onto the beach sand below.
I made a small cup with the unprocessed clay and at cone 5, it turned out to be self-glazing. The ocean salt and iron (both fluxes) encourage this effect. More in the #alttext.
#CapeCod sending its best to serve in the #MAPoli legislature, I see.

Great news for sea turtle conservation! Loggerhead turtles rescued from Cape Cod beaches and rehabilitated at the New England Aquarium are not only surviving but are also returning to local waters to feed. This success highlights the effectiveness of rescue and rehabilitation efforts in supporting these endangered creatures.

Needed to make a quick charging stop in Eastham because I forgot to charge to 100% before leaving for Provincetown, and the extra drag from the bike rack made the efficiency worse. Obviously the bike design is not optimized for the aerodynamic when it's sideways
I could charge near Ptown long enough so I can make it home, but 1) Ptown's DC charger is a Tesla supercharger, as much as I don't want give money to Musk, it is also not 800V output, meaning the Taycan only takes around 140-150kw, which is not so much different from the 120kw I can get from this ChargePoint. 2) as I don't drive much, I need to take advantage of the Electrify America free charging when I have the opportunity.
So a quick 9 mins charge from 11% to 22% and we got on the way to the Electrify America in Hyannis. Arrived with 13% SoC and got the free juice to 85%.
This was my first view of the #ocean today while #hiking around a peninsula. Outgoing leg was on the side of the peninsula facing the mainland with an expansive marsh in between. Then we cut across the peninsula (seeing this view) and returned on the ocean side. With strong winds and dark overcast, we had the place mostly to ourselves! #CapeCod #beach #SeaScape
Saw this interesting #wavy pattern in the snow at the #ocean earlier this week. The pattern appears to form from interacting with ocean waves at high tide, then is exposed like this at low tide. Nature makes great art! #WavyWednesday #CapeCod #beach
