Interesting article in the Grauniad today on the Reformed Druids of North America, and groups like Ar nDraiocht Fein who derived from that original college group.

I like how this branch of Druidry began as a student protest against mandatory religion in college - a pretty radical secular vision of Druidry that seems particularly relevant today.

Here's the third batch of DIY tree oracle cards I've drawn, featuring the lovely long acorns of the evergreen Holm Oak!

This feels like a good place to stop, for now, as I've drawn all of the local trees I'm familiar with. At some point though, I'd like to add more cards to cover the trees I only see further away from where we live.

Headed out to get a Solstice tree later today. I have mixed feelings about killing a tree for this purpose (haven't done this for decades), but my partner wants one, so if the tree is angry I hope it will talk to her about it and not blame me too much.

Years ago (2006!) I wrote a little blog post about the origins of the Christmas tree. Some Christian saints are credited with starting the tradition. Spoiler: they didn't. But they did kill trees.

#Introduction post:

Hi, I'm River! I've just moved to pagan.plus from another mastodon instance.

I'm a queer non-binary trans #witch with a background in #druidry, but I'm currently walking a witchy path guided by Hekate and inspired by folk magic.

I have a degree in theology with a specialisation in the psychology of religious experience, and in my day job I'm a university librarian.

I love spending time in nature, cooking, writing poetry, and listening to music - mostly but not exclusively of the metal variety.

I'm also obsessed with the games #BaldursGate3 and #DragonAge #TheVeilguard, and will talk about them at length to anyone who will listen.

I'm kinda selective with my follows/followers, but I'm looking forward to getting to know the community on here.

More DIY tree oracle cards! I enjoyed drawing the fancy trunks and bark on the Giant Sequoia and London Plane. Very pettable bark imo :blobaww:

Also, I couldn't resist including the stylish purple Norway Maple cultivar (Crimson King, I think?) as well as the regular green one in the card for that species. I do love a dramatic dark tree (also a big fan of copper beech for this reason)!

Here is my updated #Solarpunk / #Permaculture / #Resiliency / #Hackerspace / #Makerspace / #RightToRepair / #LibraryOfThings list. I've included descriptions along with the account names. So many good accounts, I decided to alphasort for this round. Suggestions welcome!

These are the first batch of DIY tree oracle cards I've made. I'm really enjoying the process - connecting with each tree, thinking about the characteristics of the species, but also the characteristics of the specific individual trees I see on my walks. Would definitely recommend this kind of project to anyone trying to deepen their connection with their local trees!
