This is the dress that ruined the life of Korean actress Oh In-hye.

Oh In-hye wore this dress to the 16th Busan International Film Festival in 2011. The outfit was considered too revealing by many in Korean society, leading to widespread criticism and controversy. As a result, she lost several contracts and faced substantial backlash from the public and media. Despite her previous success, she struggled to secure important roles and projects, which led to feelings of isolation and depression. Tragically, Oh In-hye took her own life on September 14, 2020.

Oh In-hye was known for her roles in films such as "Red Vacance Black Wedding" (2011) and "The Plan" (2014). Her untimely death highlights the intense pressures faced by public figures in the entertainment industry, particularly in dealing with societal expectations and media scrutiny.

When PR maestro Simon Halls, who's married to Matt Bomer, moved to Hollywood as an out gay man in the early 1990s, he was warned "be careful with sharing your story." He's subsequently supported many celebrities to come out on their own terms, including Ellen DeGeneres, Anne Heche, and Nathan Lane. He spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about how things have changed, the people who helped move things forward, and his hopes for the future.

"Because I now have teenage children, I can see firsthand how their peers respond to sexual orientation or gender fluidity. Kids are so much more accepting today. It’s so stunning to me. 'Heartstopper' is one of the most popular shows on Netflix and it’s simply about young love. It doesn’t matter that it’s gay or straight. Love and heartbreak happen at any age," he says. "As a father, I’m so happy that the world that my kids get to inherit is so completely different than it was when I was coming up."
