A quotation from Banksy

The greatest crimes in the world are not committed by people breaking the rules but by people following the rules. It’s people who follow orders that drop bombs and massacre villages. As a precaution to never committing major acts of evil it is our solemn duty never to do what we’re told, this is the only way we can be sure.

I wholeheartedly disagree with and categorically reject the sentiment that people who do not vote, who refuse to vote, or who fail to vote thereby relinquish any right to complain about the operations of the #government.
People who choose not to vote absolutely have every right to complain. That is a fundamental principle of #liberty. That is what it means to live in a free society and value #FreeSpeech and #Freedom of expression. #voting #VotingRights

"The Court of Appeal has today ruled that legislation granting the police ‘almost unlimited powers’ to restrict #protests was created unlawfully. Judges dismissed an appeal from the Government, finding in favour of human rights organisation #Liberty."

LibertyLiberty defeats Government appeal as Court rules anti-protest laws are unlawful - Liberty

Great to see the UK's protest laws (under which friends of mine are behind bars) confirmed by the UK Court of Appeal as having been created unlawfully.

The laws may now be quashed, with #Liberty calling for all arrests and prosecutions under the legislation to be urgently reviewed, alongside a comprehensive review into all protest laws that have been passed in recent years.

‘Five different judges over two separate hearings have made it clear: these anti-protest laws were a flagrant abuse of power and quite simply should never have existed.

Ministers cannot step outside the law to do whatever they want to shut down causes they don’t agree with.’

The Guardian · We fought and beat the government in the courts because every Briton has the right to protestBy Akiko Hart

The government has lost its appeal against a High Court ruling that found that controversial anti-protest legislation introduced by Suella Braverman, the former home secretary, was unlawful.

"The Court of Appeal upheld the original judgment in what civil rights organisation Liberty, which brought the legal challenge, is hailing as a major legal victory..."

Real #Libertarianism is based upon the idea that all the living are inherently equal in dignity, and by virtue of existence alone entitled to equal rights, equal protection of those rights under the law, an equal voice in civic participation, and equal opportunity to engage in society without undue restraint.

Libertarianism has one ethic—that no one should infringe upon the equal natural rights of any other. That's it. That's real libertarianism. #Equality #Liberty and #JusticeforALL. #USpol

The structure of this #BBC article on #JSO and #ClimateProtesters is entirely to serve the interests of those who want to portray climate activism as a ‘public nuisance’.

It’s one thing to briefly quote #Liberty, but they don’t acknowledge the UN’s view that UK sentencing of climate protestors was “beyond comprehension” and expressed alarm at “increasingly severe” crackdowns on the right to protest in the UK.

"An ancient Greek Cynic would never worry about what curtains or carpets to have, what is on TV tonight or which brand of washing powder gets things whiter. These and similar concerns are the concerns of the civilized and their price is your freedom. The Cynic determines to do without not because without is better or recommended in itself but because this is the only way to demonstrate freedom from burdensome comforts and artificially created obligations. Civilization, to the Cynic, is unfree; it is a set of chains, and they are not worth giving up your freedom for."

John Jewel, Anglican bishop, write on praise of a church for their diligent love (1 Thes 1:3). The one who loves, underoes travails on behalf of the beloved, and lets loose some bounty. The Thessalonian church provided this love for saints in affliction, loss of goods, and banishment.

Has today’s conservative church forgotten love for the saints, as noted in the response to Christian Syrians?

How can you experience the travail of love?
