#NewsCorp [#NewsCorpse] no longer has the power to sway voters.

In 2022 NewsCorp #tabloids went all out with copy that read like political advertising – in particular attacking #MoniqueRyan & other #Teal candidates. Yet look at the results & again this time round, in the contest just ended.

Too much listening to & engagement with #SkyNews #AfterDark, & the #Marksons & #Credlins of the world, is a reason why the Libs are so manifestly out of touch. #auspol #ausvotes

Totally agree & think this shift in power (biggest losers being commercial old media) needs to be explored more… it’s a big change in some thinking (some previously set-in-cement assumptions that have conditioned a lot of actions). John Quiggin refers to it as: “the exposure of Newscorp as a paper tiger”.

If News Corp - yes, News Corp - are running op-eds like this, the night after Dutton allegedly won the Channel 9 debate, Spud doesn't have a hope in hell.

Might have to read news.com.au more often!

Peter Dutton was the incredible shrinking man during Channel Nine’s Great Debate

“ I won't be gaslit over Trump. If you suck up to him, you will get more bullying — Malcolm Turnbull(The Sydney Morning Herald): I was not surprised to see the News Corp publications gleefully adopting Trump's abuse and claiming that I had “torpedoed” any hopes of securing an exemption from steel and aluminium tariffs. It has always been most unlikely that Australia will secure an exemption this time. It was hard enough in 2018 and all the signals from the administration are that the tariffs will be applied across the board.

And it perhaps never occurred to the team at News Corp's Holt Street HQ in Sydney that it is utterly bizarre that the unremarkable comments of a former prime minister would cause the US to decide not to exempt Australia from tariffs. Not a word of criticism of Trump, of course!

I was amused to reflect on the mental stress this episode was causing our friends at News Corp. Such a target-rich environment! They can blame me for the tariffs, or Kevin Rudd, or Anthony Albanese. Surely they can work out a formula where it's the fault of all three — but never, ever the fault of Donald Trump!”

Another example that Murdoch press is just #unethical and #evil. 😡

"News Corp staff tried to provoke workers at a Middle Eastern restaurant into making prejudicial comments.

The confrontation in the #Newtown restaurant was described this week by Asio’s director general, Mike Burgess, as “mind-blowingly stupid”.

News Corp tracked down the source of the leak to Crikey that the operation was known internally as “#undercoverjew” and he was asked to resign"

I've had more time to think about this.

Nah, this shit isn't on, this is straight up unforgivable behaviour. No news organisation should be attempting to stage or provoke attacks between people so they can publish stories and try to win political games.

This should get you shutdown
