After yesterday’s Michelotti proposal, today we are looking at another attempt at reskinning the Triumph Dolomite in order to give it a more modern, fancier look. I said a few weeks ago that there was a Panther connection to the small Triumph story and this is it - the 1975 Panther Rio, a Dolly re-clad in bespoke hand-beaten aluminium bodywork, with a Rolls-class wood and leather interior. Snapped at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2024. (1/2)

Today, Panther’s not-at-all-retro final car, the Solo. This was initially conceived as a small mid-engined sports car but its promising prospects were scuppered before production by the arrival of the Toyota MR2 in 1984. In response, Panther decided to re-develop it as a bigger, heavier car with a roomier 2+2 body, a more powerful engine and all-wheel drive, Solo 2, although very few were sold. I saw this Solo 2 at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2017.

In 1976, Panther introduced the Lima, a much more affordable retro roadster for buyers whose budget didn’t stretch to yesterday’s De Ville. The Lima was replaced in 1982 by this, the visually almost identical Kallista, seen here at the 2024 NEC Classic Car Show. That said, the Lima and Kallista were quite different under the skin, with the Lima using a lot of Vauxhall parts, while the Kallista mainly leant on Ford for its mechanical bits.

Today, a second helping of gloriously over-the-top Panther De Ville retro. This is the convertible version, of which only eleven were made. I’m not sure whether this one also uses the Landcrab doors or not. My first thought was that they might have used the rear doors rather than the fronts but after looking at several other photos, I don’t think that’s quite right unless they’ve been modified in some way. Snapped: NEC Classic Motor Show in 2024.

In 1974, Panther followed up on yesterday’s J.72 roadster with this, the spectacularly extravagant De Ville limousine. Like the J.72, the De Ville combined a retro appearance with modern Jaguar mechanical parts. In this case, the apparent inspiration for the design was the Bugatti Royale. Spotted at the NEC Classic Car Show, 2024. Anyway - take a close look at those doors and read the second post in this thread too… 1/2

Inkari the Fateweaver by DarkArts
And here we have Inkari, a major character in my Mystic Heart Odyssey story series, being her mysterious, slightly ominous self! The outfit is a bit anachronistic, given that the story takes place in a more ancient, primitive fantasy world, but that's honestly kind of fitting for her. (Read the story, you'll see. ;P)

"Oh Akela, and ye the Free People," [Bagheera] purred, "I have no right in your assembly, but the Law of the Jungle says that if there is a doubt which is not a killing matter in regard to a new cub, the life of that cub may be bought at a price. And the Law does not say who may or may not pay that price. Am I right?"
